[big bang theory/supernatural] like the rifle - art & mix
I fell so totally in love with
damalur's
bigbangbigbang, Like the Rifle, that I could not stop making things for it. Literally. The posting schedule is the only thing keeping me from making more and more and more...
Brace yourselves:
resources:
For the covers: a; b; c; instrument panel; the fonts are Brittanic Bold (title & author) and Centaur (blurb)
For the desktop: base image; can probably dig up originals and larger manips for the rest - just comment if you're interested
For the booklet: see this gallery on Flickr plus this Impala restoration by Bennett's Upholstery; the fonts are Gill Sans MT (lyrics) and Adobe Garamond Pro (title & artist)
For the Like the Rifle mix: base image; the fonts are Brittanic Bold (title on front) and Amura (tracklist on back)
For the Voices Fall mix: front cover; back cover; the fonts are Marquee (title), Amura (subtitle), and Myriad Pro (tracklist)
For the music, I highly recommend AmieStreet.com and BandCamp.com for finding and trying new artists, and for free downloads and cheap tracks for purchase. A lot of these were discovered there and by using last.fm's recommended and user-library radios. I tried to keep ID3 info intact on the tracks so you can find the albums if you're so inclined. Any questions just let me know!
As always, huge-normous thanks to
inkdot for patiently talking me through a thousand panic attacks and to
the_wanlorn for being the most enthusiastic cheerleader ever ♥♥

- Fic covers
Dude, like I'm going to turn down a chance to go completely overboard? It's approximately nine billion of my favorite things all in one story!
And for the purists: yes, unfortunately, that is an Impala instrument panel from a '72, not a '67! Maybe she had to have it rebuilt? :D? :D? :(

(front covers only: a, b, c) - Desktop
For some reason it seemed like a good idea to make a "the things Penny carried" desktop. IDEK. Everything should be pretty self-explanatory (I hope!) but let me know if you see something that doesn't make sense. ♥♥♥ x a bajillion todamalur for giving me an excuse to indulge my Adam Baldwin-as-George Cooper theory at long last.

The proper mix! This took almost every spare moment over the last month-plus, to the neglect of my BBBB, because lol crazy. At one point there were about 175 potential tracks, because lol crazy. (Cover art and playlist included in the zips in case the ID3 tags didn't take.)

Neko Case - Outro With Bees (Reprise) - Mix booklet
This fic got stuck in my head for a ridiculously long time afterdamalur sent the first draft. I spent probably three weeks on Flickr just looking for images to use for the mix and fic covers. In the end, there were too many to pare down so they became a cd booklet with lyrics instead. It was really interesting to try to mirror the narrative of the story in music and images, and I hope they do it justice! Did I mention HOW FREAKING MUCH I LOVE THIS STORY LKAJ;DSF

(Mediafire (MF) is super-slow right now, so try the Megaupload (MU) links instead.) - Voices Fall: A Patsy Cline Cover Sampler
In the first draft, damalur had a mention of Sheldon only being able to tolerate some of Penny's music - Patsy Cline in particular. And then when I asked what kind of music she'd been listening to as she wrote: Patsy Cline! And since Patsy Cline songs are made of win and mournful lyrics, I had to make a bonus mix. (It made sense at the time.) The title is from a quote by Maya Angelou: It’s wonderful that whenever Patsy Cline’s name is mentioned, people’s voices fall and they become right sentimental. And, rightly so.
